Sharp rise in insurance rates expected in 2024

DECRYPTION – Auto and home contracts could rise by 4% to 8%. Inflation should be more marked for complementary health insurance.
This is bad news for household budgets. The prices of insurance contracts should climb again next year, due in particular to inflation and the increase in claims. “The French must expect price increases for their insurance in 2024 which will revolve around inflation”warned Adrien Couret, the general director of the Aéma group (Macif, Abeille Assurances, Aésio, etc.), at the beginning of September.
Auto contract premiums could thus increase by 4% to 5% on average on 1er January 2024, according to forecasts from several expert firms (Facts & Figures and Addactis). Increases comparable to, or even slightly lower than, that of inflation (4.9% over one year in August). But, more significant than in 2023 (between 2.5% and 3% increase on average). It is true that a year ago, insurers committed to Bercy to moderate prices for 2023, by not increasing them more than inflation.
A salty note
Last August, Bruno…
