Inspired by rebound juggling, Brain Ball consists of performing exercises in rhythm with balls and various accessories. This method, as playful as it is complete, works the body and the brain while having fun. Brain Ball is competing for the third edition of the Prix Pleine Vie in the Health category.
Fun and accessible to all
Brain Ball sessions are intended for all audiences, of all ages, whether young children or the elderly. They can be done individually but especially collectively. Because that is how they are appreciated, when they appeal to a sense of cooperation. The workshops are then transformed into moments of exchange and sharing during which the participants carry out the exercises together. In this sense, the brain ball also promotes social bonding.
These rhythmic juggling sessions are performed with balls of various sizes, with different textures, as well as with other accessories such as small hoops or small weighted fabric bags. Participants bounce the balls on the ground, in the air, juggle and pass them to the rhythm of the music.
The Brain Ball calls upon all the members of the body as well as all the sensory systems: visual, auditory, tactile, proprioceptive, balance. Motor skills are mobilized, as well as intellectual functions.
This original and fun method acts on the three dimensions of health: motor skills, intellectual functions and social ties. To be able to juggle with the accessories, following the sounds broadcast during the session while following the rhythm of your partners, you have to concentrate, show dexterity, coordinate your movements and find your bearings in space. The Brain Ball thus mobilizes the whole body, works on balance, memory, the sense of touch, sight, hearing and helps to aging well… According to its creator, this activity, which requires the cooperation of the right and left brains, even contributes to establishing new neuronal connections. This is a perfect activity to maintain the motor and cognitive functions of seniors, who have as much fun as the children during these workshops.
